guard your attitude

Proverbs 4:23 “Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the Issues of life.”

We would be hard pressed to find a more important Scripture for success in life – Your Best Life comes from your heart! If your heart is sour, your life will be too, same if it’s stingy, disagreeable, negative, cynical.

This is like working hard to keep your ATTITUDE right. Don’t let your heart get stolen by jealousy, hatred, fear, doubt, cynicism. How many people do you know who have not gotten over an offence & developed a cancerous attitude towards the group or person who offended them? Every area of our lives are affected by our attitude.

Thank you Lord for the great Holy Spirit who shapes our attitude to please God & bless people. ‘Be filled with The Spirit!’.

Blessing

Standard

Genesis 26:12 “Then Isaac  sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the LORD blessed him.”

God told Isaac to ‘stay’ in the land, even though there was a famine. His father Abraham had gone down to Egypt during a famine in his day & picked up many problems. Isaac obeyed God & ‘stayed’ & ‘sowed’ in the Promised Land. The land was the ‘place’ of covenant. It’s us remaining in the church, the ‘place’ God has prepared for us.

In a time of drought & famine, Isaac stepped out & sowed seed. We must keep giving even in famine. Sowing & giving are synonomous in Paul’s writings.

Our harvests don’t just fall in our lap. We must go out & reap the answers to our prayers. Blessings always falls on the obedient. God was quick to display His pleasure with Isaac – In the same year – He reaped ‘100 fold’.

life & health

Standard

Proverbs 4:22 “For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh.”

When people find the Word (that has gained access to our heat), they will discover LIFE! People find things because they are seeking them. They are looking for them. Those with no hunger for the Word, will not ‘ find it’. Jesus speaks of 4 kinds of hearts that receive the Word – Only one bears fruit 0 Casual hearts, stony heats, distracted hearts don’t get to receive the Word.

We must reprogram our sub-conscious -‘By His stripes I am healed!’

Healing is in the Word, “He sent His Word & healed them. People need to REPEAT the Word to themselves until they believe it – ‘Faith comes by hearing the Word’.

God’s tools, medicine & method of healing is through believing the Word – This connects us with the healing work of Christ on the cross & the power of the Holy Spirit – IF THE SPIRIT RAISED CHRIST FROM THE DEAD, HE CAN HEAL YOUR BODY. Faith connects us with that power – Faith comes from the Word – the Promises.

Today His Presence is stronger and closer than a long time.
He comes with a fire,
A warm, glowing, gentle, unharming, healing fire.
He clothes me with this fire.
This fire is not the fire of excitment or zeal but a beautiful fire of God.

The Lord doesn’t know the old me.
He knows the child He birthed, the new me.
He relates to the new creation.

what words are in your heart?

Standard

Proverbs 4:21 ‘Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart;’

Meditation is the digestive faculty of the soul. Through meditation the Word travels from our mind to our heart, from information to revelation. This is extremely important because this is what Christ builds His church on – Revelation – what is Light in our soul.

Our eyes should fall on the Word of God everyday. Much of what we read is ‘dead’. The WORD is LIFE – It’s the ‘Word of life’.

Not just positive thoughts or breadth of knowledge, but what has become the light & food of the Word within. Eastern meditation is about emptying the mind. This (Christian) meditation is about filling the mind. Take a scripture & repeat it over in your mind, eventually it breaks open & you see it. This is keeping the Word in the centre of our heart – our lives, our desires, our trust.

Perception

Standard

Titus 1:15 ‘To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled.

Our perception of people is based on our own character. The thief thinks everyone who is successful steals. The honest person believes & trusts. They see people like themselves. The pure in heart believe the best about others – give them the benefit of doubt. Like when you get a new car – Suddenly it seems like they’re everywhere but your never noticed before.

We destroy our capacity to love life when we live impure lives. Doubtful, cynical living robs us of breathtaking worship & gratefulness for the smallest of mercies. Cynical people don’t believe anyone has pure motives. They can’t even see a sunrise & be in awe! What a tragedy to live suspicious of everyone, thinking they’re not what they appear just because this person has chosen to live like that.

Help us Lord to own pure hearts, live unmixed lives, so we are united within, integrated words, attitudes, actions. True for You!

Amen.

God’s Word

Proverbs 4:20 “My Son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings.”

Possibly the greatest day of my life was reading this Scripture about 2 months after receiving Christ (1971) and FEELING THE IMPACT OF GOD saying to me ‘My Son’, unbelievable!

So many things demanding for our attention, so many books, newspapers, internet stuff, people, things to do, t.v., movies etc. YET the WORD must remain the highest claim on our attention. We cannot get distracted. His Word is our lamp, without it we lose direction. It is our food – without it we are weak. it is our sword. Without it we are defeated. It is our faith, without it we are doubtful.

The Apostles said ‘we will not forsake the Word &Prayer for management’. Incline, bow down, humble, get lower to hear & obey what the Spirit says to you. His sayings are the ‘rhema’ that guides us daily. The knowings we get inside.

Remember this was David talking to Solomon. Wisdom came out of worship & we are well-served to listen to our fathers. (Natured & spirited).
