Defeated by laziness

Standard

Proverbs 22:13 ‘The lazy man says, “there is a lion outside! I shall be slain in the streets!”‘.

The unwilling have no faith. Courage comes to the willing hearted. There’s always a way through but the lazy soul, the unwilling spirit will never find it.

How selfish is the lazy heart! If there was a lion, we should go out & slay it. ‘Solve the problem”‘. Don’t make it an excuse for inaction. The lazy person is more concerned about themselves than others.

The lazy person invents problems that don’t even exist to excuse themselves from work. Jesus told us to release ‘workers’ into the harvest because people who work hard will reap the harvest & destroy the devils work in the process.

Howtolive inthe Spirit

Romans 8:5 ‘For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.’

Here is one of the simplest keys to living an extraordinarily powerful life. – If you think about the Holy Spirit you will live in the Spirit. Incredible!

You will live in the ‘spirit’ of what your mind dwells on. If you think on the things of flesh you’ll live there. Think flesh – live flesh – death. Thnk Holy Spirit – live spirit – life & peace. What is your mind set on?

You think about what you watch, listen to, read, write & speak. This shapes our thinking. Be careful what you hear!

Put you mind on the Spirit, the Word, God & the visions you have for God & you’ll walk in the Spirit & His power.

SIMPLE!!

Choose character

Standard

Proverbs 22:1 ‘A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, Loving favor rather than silver and gold.’

When we are faced with the choice between gaining great wealth but it means compromising our character, or losing great wealth but we retain integrity, then if we should chose to lose the wealth & keep integrity which in turn maintains your reputation (name) as a good person.

When the favor & love of others towards you is under threat because you get the money, choose the loving favor and not the money.

Amazingly people put good relationships at risk all the time beacuse they prefer the money. people will favor those who sacrifice money for integrity and / or relationships.

Salvation

Standard

Romans 10:9 ‘if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart, that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.’

It would be difficult to find a more important scripture to define the ‘how’ of salvation. ‘Saved’ is not just about us receiving eternal life. It covers our life being ‘saved’ in the here & now equally as much.

The hear & the mouth need to be in unity. We create faith in our heart by what we say with our mouth. We all have faith. We activate our faith when we speak the Word of God & confess great things over our lives.

The heart is our believing machine. Our heart can only be pre-occupied with one major emotion at any given time. If our heart is full of hatred or fear or doubt, we will not be believing. When we speak faith, faith comes into our heart. When this happens salvation comes to our circumstances, family, finances… Whatever we are speaking faith about.

Go ahead believe & speak salvation is yours!

Does God care?

Standard

Mark 4:38 “… And they awoke Hima nd said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”

The disciples are in the worst storm of theur lives. They fear they are going to drown. And Jesus is asleep! They accuse Him of not caring because He’s doing nothing. They ‘awaken’ God to accuse Him.

He sleeps so we wake up!! It was not a time to ask God to stop the storm. It was time for them to discover the authority they had in their own lives.

Some of us, (many of us) need to stop praying about a thing, stop feeling angry with God because He is not doing anything & speak to the storm ourselves.

Anger Management

Standard

Prov 15:1 – “A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”

Turn down the volume in an argument & anger dissipates.

Before you answer someone who is angry with you think carefully & choose words that don’t provoke anger but rather ‘soothe’ the person.

Think of what soothing cream is on sunburn. That’s what a calm, low volume, kind words’ answer is to an angry person.

Control your temper and you control your whole life. How?

  • Be slow to speak
  • Speak low and calm
  • Speak kind words
  • Agree with your adversary
It can be so tempting to speak harshly back to an angry person, but don’t. Many people have ruined their whole life because of one moment of unrestrained anger.

Matt 6:9 – In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.

Jesus didn’t just tell us to pray but HOW to pray. We need to follow this pattern for successful praying.

Impossible to say ‘Our’ if we are not in unity with other believers.

We should pray together, in groups, every day – this is a daily prayer.

Our purposes should never be self absorbed, but should be the purposes we own together with others.

The first 5 points of the Lords’ Prayer are to do with God, not us. We need to put His purposes first, before ours!

We are called firstly to make His Name “hallowed” – revered, respected, sacred, beautiful.

He has placed His name, His reputation in our hands. The devil maligns the name of Jesus. We glorify it!
