“My son, if sinners entice you, Do not consent.” Proverbs 1:10

All of us are tempted at some time, whether its by our own desires or the company we keep. What we consent to gains power over our life. What we give conset to enters our life.

On the internet often you’re invited (enticed) to consent “I Agree” “Enter”.

When you click on that button you are ‘consenting’ entering into an agreement with whatever it is.

Although it’s hard, resisting temptation in the first instance is far easier than getting out of the trap, addiction, problem & all the consequences later.

Don’t yield to the devil an inch. Don’t consent to his accusations, anxieties, fears, doubts either. Cast down every imagination that doesn’t agree with God’s Word, that you are loved, accepted, forgiven, justified and highly favored!!!

Consent to the Word & nothing less!!

Proverbs 12:11 “A hard worker has plenty of food, but a person who chases fantasies has no sense.

Laziness is the fastest path to poverty. Hard work is the key to being blessed in life. Work in itself is a blessing. It’s good for a person to be industrious. God didn’t tell Adam to ‘tend’ the garden and He’d pay him $5000 a week.

Work is dignified by the Bible.

Some people think the blessing of God will make them prosperous without them having to work hard. But God blesses the work of our hands.

Having a dream without working hard to make it happen is ‘chasing fantasies’. We are saved by grace to a life of works.

Jesus told us to pray for workers for His harvest. Let’s go to work at whatever He’s called us to!

“Then God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water” Gen 21:19

Hagar has been thrown out of her home with her son and now, in the desert, she has run out of water and hope – She is totally negative discouraged & ready to die.

When we are discouraged we become blind to real answers right in front of us. Because of discouragement Hagar couldn’t see the well which was right next to her all the time.

Faith sees answers in spite of the problems. Even when we are in despair we can ‘switch on’ our faith, speak the promises of God & our eyes will be opened to opportunities, possibilities & solutions.

Vision and hope and strategy come to the heart of faith.

Anger Management

So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.” James 1:19-20

We are taught & tested by educators on just about everything in life except relationships which is what most of our life is about, marriage, family, friends, work collegues….

We need to heed the Bibles training on relationships. Here are 3 basics

1) Don’t be quick to speak, think before you speak.

2) Listen, listen, listen – Everyone appreciates being listened to.

3) Don’t have a quick temper. This is the fastest way to lose a relationship. Have a long fuse. Be long-suffering.

It’s easy to think that getting angry with someone will change them & fix the situation. But generally, it only gives vent to your heated emotions. Get to situations before it gets to you!

Blessed is the man who endures temptation. For when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.”

Temptation is a test designed to strengthen us, not to weaken us. It stretches our will & attitude so we are ‘proven’ and ‘approved’. Once we have resisted and conquered the test.

We get a ‘crown’ through overcoming temptation. Whatever trial you are facing, when you are through it, you will receive authority, glory, and favour in that area.

After Jesus resisted the temptation to turn stones into bread, he gained ‘a crown’ of working miracles & multiplied bread many times for the crowds.

He resisted the temptation to throw himself down to see if God would look after him. He got the crown of resurrection out of which came every healing miracle.

He laid down His life & was raised from the dead by his father.

The devil tempted Jesus to bow down & worship him & he could give him all the kingdoms of the world. Jesus resisted & got the crown of rulership.

At His ascension He was made ruler of all the kingdoms of the world!
