The Cain button

Standard

Genesis 4:6-7 – “So the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And it’s desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”

Cain was angry because his younger brother was getting blessed and he wasn’t.

All of us have a Cain button. When it’s pushed we get angry. Cain sulked. His bottom lip dropped. His face was dark with resentment.

God counsels Cain to deal with it. “Do what the brother is doing that causes blessing’ – bring the tithe, the offering that God called for.

Gift giving is about giving someone what they want or wold like, rather than forcing what we want to give them, on them.

Cain’s unresolved unforgiving sullen attitude was an open door for the devil (murderer) to take over his life. We always have the choice as to who will rule in our life, us or sin.

Start the year with a great attitude. Clean out the old. Switch on the new.

See you in church!
