2 Thessalonians 2:10 “… and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.”
The love, hunger and desire for the Truth should be one of the key reasons we seek God and choose to live in Christ.
A lot of contemporary preaching focuses on coming to God because you have been a victim, or you have dreams that you want to come to pass, or you want to understand your destiny and the meaning of life. In essence, there is nothing wrong with these, but you will run into trouble if these are your only motivations. God’s ways are higher, and his thoughts higher, so we might not always understand why he doesn’t answer our prayers immediately, or even at all. Sometimes God withholds, but whatever he does it is with the goal of gradually transforming you more and more into the image of Christ.
Becoming like Christ is our most important destiny and God’s ultimate intention for our lives, and an earnest love for the truth of God is what will keep us faithful in the testing times. No matter what is happening in our lives, a love for the truth ensures that we stand steadfast and planted in our relationship with Christ.
