Meditations on the Holy Spirit

Rom 8:28

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Rom 8:29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.

All the good and all the bad things somehow merge together to cause good to happen to those who love God, whereas the opposite will happen to those who do not love Him. To love God is to want Him, appreciate Him, enjoy being with Him, prefer His purposes over our own, honor Him, fight for His glory, obey Him, love His Son, love His Spirit, love His family, His people, and love the people He loves. When we love God all the forces of the world conspire and come together to cause everything in our personal world to work together, to symphonize for good.

All of us are called to fulfill His purpose in our lives. We don’t need personal words from God. He has already revealed His purpose through the Word.

God has always been aware of those who would receive Jesus and so He predetermined that they would be conformed to an image, formed into an image which pleased Him above all others, namely, His own Son Jesus. This became the high calling, the eternal purpose, that we would be molded into the pattern man Jesus. Thus all the suffering in the world should elicit from us the merciful healing actions of Jesus. Thus all the relational dysfunctions we encounter become the opportunities to reveal, develop, and manifest the image of the on of God. The Lord will take us through many painful but life transforming circumstances so we are conformed to that image of His Son. ‘Let us make man’ had a far longer reaching outworking than we could have ever imagined from the garden.

See you at Presence!
